CILEX appoints new director of regulation and standards

Claire Tilley has joined CILEX as its director of regulation and standards, responsible for embedding the new CPQ and ensuring CILEX meets its obligations as a chartered institute, awarding body and approved regulator under the Legal Services Act.

She joins from the British Psychological Society (BPS) where she was head of workforce education, training and standards, responsible for accreditation of education and training provision, the society’s own qualifications, workforce development and the delivery of its careers activity.

This included developing and delivering a new Professional Standards Authority-accredited voluntary register for non-regulated psychological practitioners and growing the BPS’s student membership through outreach and careers led activities.

Prior to working for the BPS, Ms Tilley worked in higher education for 13 years across a variety of roles including quality assurance, partnerships, transnational education, postgraduate research and higher and degree apprenticeships.

Ms Tilley said: “I’m delighted to be joining an organisation that is focused on modernising the legal profession. I look forward to challenging outdated perceptions about the CILEX route into law and working to influence public education policy on CILEX’s behalf to ensure that the legal profession continues to diversify and innovate to meet the changing needs of society.”
