CILEX PI lawyer appointed to the Civil Justice Council
Chartered Legal Executive and personal injury specialist Laurence Shaw has been appointed to the Civil Justice Council (CJC).
Mr Shaw is one of six new members named in January to serve a three-year term on the advisory body, which brings together expertise from across the legal profession to advise the judiciary, government and rule makers on the development of the civil justice system. The CJC’s remit includes looking at how the system can be made more accessible, fair and efficient.
Mr Shaw is a legal consultant with over 40 years’ experience dealing with personal injury claims and in recent years has specialised in foreign jurisdiction litigation arising from accidents abroad. He is currently a Special Reference Group adviser for CILEX in civil litigation and has represented CILEX on the CJC costs committee on guideline hourly rates as well as being a CILEX Council member for 15 years.
The other new members were solicitor member John Cuss, alternative dispute resolution member Amrik Kandola, digital, technology and information member Daniel Hoadley, lay member Sue Prince and advice sector member Elizabeth Smart.
