Lawyers recognised in New Year Honours list

A number of lawyers and others connected to the legal practice, advice and education worlds and to the law enforcement field have been recognised for their achievement and service in the 2016 New Year Honours list:

Commander of the Order of the British Empire

  • His Honour Michael Findlay Baker, QC DL, lately resident judge, Crown Court, St Albans and deputy circuit judge, for services to the administration of justice and to the community in Hertfordshire.
  • Guy Gibson Beringer Hon QC, non-executive chairperson, UK Export Finance, for services to export finance and pro bono work in the legal sector.
  • Timothy James Dutton QC, barrister, recorder and deputy High Court judge, for services to the UK legal system.
  • Catherine Dyer, Crown Agent and chief executive, Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, for services to law and order in Scotland.
  • Paul Farmer, chief executive, Mind, for services to mental health.

Officer of the Order of the British Empire

  • (Betty) Ann Flintham, magistrate and lately deputy chief executive, Magistrates’ Association, for services to the administration of justice.
  • Sarah Louisa Goodall, deputy director, National Crime Agency, for services to law enforcement.
  • Carolyn Kirby, president, Mental Health Review Tribunal for Wales and chairman, Cancer Information and Support Services, South West Wales, for services to justice and cancer care
  • Carolyn Mary Elizabeth Pike, director of legal services, University of Birmingham, for services to higher education and legal services.

Member of the Order of the British Empire

  • Asha Odedra, Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy, manager, Operations Directorate, Crown Prosecution Service, for services to law and order.
  • Shaun Rayner JP, magistrate and chair, Essex Family Panel, for services to the administration of justice and the community in Essex.
