Cross-examination experts sought for domestic abuse court work

The HM Courts and Tribunals Service is calling on CILEX practitioners, barristers and solicitors with cross-examination expertise and vulnerable witness and advocacy training to register for court-appointed cross-examination work in family and civil proceedings.

This follows implementation of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, which prohibits alleged perpetrators of domestic abuse and their victims from cross-examining each other. Court appointed legal practitioners will now act in place of the prohibited parties.
